What people give at a mehndi
The mehndi, or rasm-e-henna, is the night both families come together before the wedding. Married women of the family traditionally apply henna to the bride and feed her sweets, and relatives come up one by one to give the bride and groom money. That cash gift is salami — given by close relatives as a blessing — and a decorated tray is one way to present it. Our cash trays, with chocolates and roses, are made for that moment.
In some families the groom's side also brings gifts for the bride to the mehndi: clothes, jewellery, sweets and henna. Some send a yellow outfit for the mayun, the last days before the wedding when the bride stays at home. The groom's family's gifts to the bride are called the bari, and Pakistan's Dowry and Bridal Gifts (Restriction) Act, 1976 treats them as “bridal gifts”, separate from the dowry her own parents give. We do not make the clothes or the jewellery; we make the flowers, baskets and floral jewellery that go with them.
From a friend or a cousin, a gift for the bride herself suits the night: a mehndi basket with bangles and a card, a set of fresh floral jewellery to wear over her outfit, or gajra for her wrists and hair. Whatever you choose, the card carries your name and your words, and you see a photo of the finished piece before it is delivered.
A mehndi gift or a nikkah gift?
A mehndi gift is for the bride; a nikkah gift can be for the couple. At the mehndi she is the centre of the night, so floral jewellery (PKR 1,000 to PKR 5,499) or a mehndi basket (PKR 1,500 to PKR 7,500) is something she uses that evening. At the nikkah the gift can be for both of them — a ring tray or pens for the signing, or a hamper for the newlyweds — and our nikkah gifts page covers those.
If you can send only one, choose the function you would have attended. Fresh flowers are arranged on the morning of delivery, so a mehndi gift is made the same day it reaches her; order one to two weeks ahead between November and February, the busiest part of the wedding season. Deliver it to her home rather than to the venue — halls rarely accept anything before the event, and a home address with a phone number gets you a confirmed handover.
For guests, the Pakistani wedding gift etiquette guide explains what to give by relationship and by function, and the wedding & nikkah collection has everything else for the week.
Sending a mehndi gift from abroad
Pay from your own country by Remitly, Taptap Send or an international bank transfer — no Pakistani bank account needed — and we deliver in Pakistan. If you are the groom, we can deliver to your family's home so your mother or sister takes it to the mehndi, or straight to the bride. The card names you, and you approve the photo before it leaves the studio. More on that in sending wedding gifts to Pakistan and gifts for your fiancée.

What do you give at a mehndi?
Relatives traditionally give the bride and groom money at the mehndi — salami, a cash gift given as a blessing — and in some families the groom's side also brings gifts for the bride. A friend can give the bride something for the night itself: a mehndi basket, floral jewellery to wear over her outfit, or gajra. There is no fixed list; the gift is for her, and the card says who it is from.
How much is a mehndi basket?
Our mehndi baskets and bride-to-be hampers cost PKR 1,500 to PKR 7,500, and floral jewellery, rings, bangles and gajra PKR 1,000 to PKR 5,499. Delivery in Lahore is charged separately, from PKR 500 by area. Prices on this page are read live from our catalogue.
Mehndi or nikkah — which one should I send the gift to?
Either works. A mehndi gift is for the bride — something she wears or keeps from that night — while a nikkah gift can be for the couple, such as a ring tray, pens or a hamper. If you can only send one, choose the function you would have attended, and have it delivered to her home on the morning of that day rather than to the venue.
Do you make mehndi favours for guests?
Yes — small baby's-breath bouquet cones and chocolate cones that guests take home. Order them with the date and the number of guests, a week or two ahead in the wedding season.
Can the groom's family order the mehndi gifts for the bride?
Yes, including from abroad. Pay from your own country by Remitly, Taptap Send or an international bank transfer, and tell us whether to deliver to the bride's home or to the groom's family so they can take it to the mehndi. You approve a photo of the finished gift before it leaves.
Can the floral jewellery match her mehndi outfit?
Yes. Send a photo of the outfit on WhatsApp. Floral jewellery and gajra are made from fresh flowers on the day, in the colours you choose — mehndi yellows and greens, or whatever she is wearing.
